Sound The Alarm

On Saturday April 28th Teamsters Local 929 sponsored an event called Sound the Alarm. This is a program that the Red Cross has in place to install smoke detectors in homes. The Red Cross proposes to install 1 million smoke detectors in homes across the country in 2018. The April 28th event was the kick-off of the program in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. Teamster Local 929 members paired up with volunteers from the Red Cross and Philadelphia firefighters and went to homes in the neighborhood of the union hall. In all, over 50 Teamsters Local 929 members made up 19 teams to hit the streets. We were able to install 167 smoke detectors in over 100 homes on Saturday. It was a great day!
